I had an eye exam a week and a half ago at Walmart’s Optical center. Why there? Well, five years ago I had a good experience with them. This time the eye doctor was excellent. That’s when the good times stopped. They still have good prices on frames, relative to the insane prices most places charge. However, unlike 5 years ago, they don’t have the “bundle” prices anymore. It used to be the frame price included the base lenses, and you could upgrade for moderate charges depending on your choice. No longer. Now even the cheap plastic lenses are another $40, which I was told they didn’t even sell (I found out later was a lie, not that I was going to buy them, they’re terrible quality).
The set I was looking at ran $110 per pair, and that was the lowest of the three upgrades lenses. The sales lady of course tried to talk me into the $220 lenses, which I immediately told her I was not going to buy, twice. She proceeded to give me the sales pitch anyway, which consisted of her tellign me that basically their lens grinding process ruined the cheaper lenses, and only these super expensive lenses would actually work. I said a third time I wasn’t interested because if the lenses didn’t work, I would demand replacement sunder their warranty policy, and that it’s illegal to sell products you know are defective but still advertise as functional. She finished by saying she really recommended them to everyone with my type of vision (I’m nearsighted). I didn’t bother to mention that’s a lot of people to push pricey lenses on. So I settled on a mild upgrade to $140 because that set of lenses was significantly thinner, and had anti-glare coatings, etc.
Then I learned they no longer do the lens grinding in-house. It takes a week because it’s sent to their labs in Indiana. This really displeased me, but no one nearby does it any faster anyway, which is why I went to Walmart. So fine, it takes a week.
I went in Thursday to pick up my glasses. I put them on, and vision in my right eye was still quite blurry. I pulled of the glasses, they were clean, put them back on, still very blurry, but different from my normal vision. Immediately I knew what happened. They screwed up the prescription, or the lab used the wrong lens. The girl this time tried to tell me it was my eye that just needed to get used to the new glasses. “Excuse me? If any old lens worked, and my eye just needed to ‘get used to it’ then I wouldn’t be here spending $200 on these. This is wrong.” Another moment of arguing about it, and finally she conceeded and wrote on my chart “patient refuses to take glasses home and try them out for a while”. She went to go get the doctor, and I added to the chart, “because the lens is wrong, and he knows taking them home won’t fix the lens.”
Well, after a few minutes with the doctor, lo and behold I was correct and the lens is wrong. Whoever entered the doctor’s report into the computer ordering system introduced whatever the optical equivalent of an “off by one” error is. The lens was one power “notch” lower than it should have been, according to the doctor. So this time they double checked all the entries, and reordered the glasses. There’s no such thing as a rush according to them, and so I must wait another week. I was too busy, and too angry at the situation to deal with it, so I let them continue, although tomorrow I plan on having a word with a number of people about this. Especially the part about how my eyes would just “get used to it.”
On the brigh tside, I still have 20/10 vision with corrective lenses, and the doctor compared my prescription now to what it was 5 years ago, and my eyes have slightly improved from then. Apparently this is not unheard of to eye doctors, although it’s incredible news to me. I thought that my current glasses weren’t strong enough, but it’s that now they’re actually too strong, however so slightly.
we have used walmart for our glasses for over 20yrs. In the beginning we were very happy with what we paid for. Now you want to get glasses from them and you don’t want to turn in your old ones you pay $20 extra, they no longer replace your glasses within the year if broke, and they’ve raised the prices on lenses and eye exams. I think they’ve gotten greedy and forgot about the people that trusted in them.
I think a lot of the service customers get is location based. If you live in say Crawfordsville, IN where there is an optical lab its really easy to get your glasses fixed but if you live far away from one it is a different story. As for lenses cracking due to improper insertion into frames. There is really only 1 way to put a lens into a frame. And no tightening the frames too much does NOT cause cracks. It causes pressure marks on the sides of the lenses near the screw. It does not cause cracks. If you buy plastic lenses they are going to scratch and will probably crack over time. Don’t be cheap and buy Poly ones. Trust me. I doubt you can chip them. I’ve never ever seen a poly lens chip or crack.
have used wal mart many many times – never ever had a problem – always available to accomodate
I’m due for an eye exam at my super Wal-mart in Amherst NH in 2 hour’s and I’m REAL lury of getting my new glasses there now. My wife got her exam and glasses there 2 years ago, she DID have a few issues with the glasses (lens fell out 3 times the sales agent was a complete jerk and a hack in every meaning of the word), however the Eye Dr. was excellent! Now I’m unsure of where to get my glasses from. Thanks for the helpful insight (no pun intended)
I got my glasses from Walmart about 2 years ago, had no major problems and plan on going again soon for new ones. I have always received great service from the people working in our Walmart Vision Center. Keep up the good work!
I have seen a lot of people write, "you get what you pay for." That simply is not true for eyeglasses. The markup is way too high for this to be accurately measured. CR39 is not the "cheaper plastic" there are a lot worse materials. CR39 is fairly mid-grade, it is actually recommended for rimless and bendable titanium frames. Check out this site glassyeyes.com they have lots of info pertaining to discount eyewear found on the web. Of the sites found there I like Zenni Optical, and Goggles4u.com
I just bought eyeglasses from WalMart. I looked around at other places before going to WalMart. The lady that helped me was very kind and straightforward. She did say that the lenses are not scratch proof just scratch resistant. It sounds like some people might be confused about what resistant means. My lenses were perfect when they arrived earlier that scheduled. I am going back to WalMart to check on ordering contacts.
I lost my glasses (can not drive without them), went to WalMart to replace them. They told me they would be in in 3 days, 10 days later, they were not. I told them to cancel the order and went to another WalMart down the road. Got my new glasses there in 3 days, have not had a problem with them in 2 years. The first store called me for about 3 months telling me I needed to come in and pay for the glasses I had ordered and RECEIVED. Would they really let you leave with glasses without paying for them? After talking to the actual store manager and optical manager, they finally (I think) believed me that I never got the glasses in the first place. Bottom line, it all depends on who’s running the store!
If you all are not getting customer satisfaction call 1 800 wal-mart.
The upper management now want the customer to be satisfied whatever it takes.
wake up folks, optical has morphed, in the past 20 years, from a professional service industry to a SALES industry.any and all opticals of any size are trained ad nauseum to separate you from as much of your money as they possibly can at every opportunity. that does not mean that there aren’t competent, professional, quality oriented opticians out there. there certainly are. consumers would be well advised to beware of high pressure up sells without pertinent questions being asked first.honest determination of need and detailed explanation of product to fill that need should play a major role in the decision making process for the patient ( notice i didn’t say "customer", theres a huge difference). cost aside, (tough for some folks) consumers should search out professional opticians. whether they work private opticals or with the big chains, ask questions, make informed decisions. you’ll get the product thats right for you, no matter what you pay. as difficult as it sounds, there is still room to trust some of us out here.
I am amazed and surprised at all of the comments here. I have been a Walmart optician for 6 years, received both the ABO and NCLE certifications, and have recently been promoted to a Vision Center Manager.
First, Thank you to all of the people who have posted positive comments about us. So many people are ready to jump on the negative, that the positives go by the wayside.
Secondly, I apologize to those who have had bad experiences and were not taken care of on behalf of all of the opticians and managers who care about their patients getting the best care possible. I know it seems we are few and far between, but we are out there.
I can tell you that are many things stated here that are true and many that are false. One is about our labs. Yes, LABS. We have four labs that have to fulfill all of our needs across the country. They have alot of work to do and mistakes can happen. Location doesn’t matter. You can live near a lab, but the store you may visit may be supplied by a different lab. No they do not rush. All orders have high priority.
Lenses- There are ALOT of lens choices. I personally suggest lenses based on your needs and your prescription. If you are getting reading only glasses and your prescription is slight, I am not going to recommend the most expensive lenses. I wouldn’t want them slammed down my throat either. BUT, I think plastic is the worst material and would not suggest that one to anyone. You deserve better.
Warranty- The maunfacturers stopped their warranty so the optical went to what the rest of the store is-60 days.
They realized that kids are kids and made their warranty 1 yr., no questions asked, no limitations.
Bottom Line- There are many problems people will face, no matter where you go. It is how the problems are dealt with that makes the difference. Mistakes happen and people should own up to them. Hope this info helps others to give Walmart another chance.
And please, if you have any problems, do no be afraid to continue up the chain to get the problem fixed. You should have to, but 99% of the time, you will get what you need.
Thank you for your time!!!
I used to love WalMart’s optical department. Lately I have had nothing but bad experiences. I finally asked one of the salespeople what had happened and was told that they had changed ownership/management of the optical department. Apparently is used to be sub contracted and now WalMart owns the operation. Explains a lot to me and I’ll be shopping elsewhere. Any tips on where to find the best/quality, prices and service would be appreciated.

I also have used WalMart for my glasses. In July, 2006, I got new lenses, which cost over $300.00, lenses only, no frames. Today they are so scratched up that I cannot see out of them. I took them back and they said I must have done something to them, I am 61 years old and VERY careful with my glasses, I do not lay them down on the lenses, as they suggested, I do not leave them in the car (can’t see without them) as they suggested the extreme heat may have affected the scratch guard that is on the lenses (which I didn’t want but they said comes with the package). The guarantee was only for 60 days (I wonder why) and there was nothing they can do about it. Needless to say, I will never buy glasses from WalMart again.
My comment is gone I like working at wal-mart as an optician. They are very nice people the only problem I have is grouchy customers. It is really hard to work with the public…but i just don’t take anything personal and keep smiling!!!
I buy my contacts at wal mart, they have always been great but for my glasses, I go to Americas Best Eyeglasses. I get 2 pairs and an eye exam for $69. I have gone there for 20 years and never received a bad pair of glasses yet. They do try to upsell other services, and I have always declined. The only extra service I do pay for is the 3 year service contract. I receive free eye exams during this time and a 10% discount on anything I purchase. I ended up with an eye infection 2 yrs ago and went in to their optomistrist. He saw me 3 times just to see how the infection was healing, AT NO CHARGE! I highly recommend them if you have one near.
I was on my way to Walmart to fill a contact lens prescription, but after reading this, I DON’T THINK SO!
I took my Daughter to America’s Best Eyeglass .There is no 2 pair of Glasses.I Did not get a Presciption.Nothing.
I got a presciption for her with another Optician. And It did not matter if I bought in his store or shopped around.I found Wal-Mart to have good prices on Contacts.
I would not ever advise people to go to America’s Best Eyeglasses.Stick with someone in a Private Practice
does anyone have any feedback about "Success Vision" – an optical store which just opened up in my area. Wal-Mart doesn’t have the frames I would like to wear – they seen too outdated although the service was helpful. thanks
After reading some of the statements, and a recent graduate of an accredited school for opticianry, I can say one thing, shame on these retailers and those employers who pay low wages to so called "opticians" that have no formal education or real optical knowlege, ask your optician questions to see if their knowledgeable in the field, ask them if they are fully licensed! This field is not "retail" its allied health and too many of these chains focus on sales pitches instead of the customers eye health needs. Opticians are suppose to check glasses coming back from the lab to ensure they meet standards (ansi) if your glasses are single vision and their just not right, have the Optician recheck the Rx and neutralize those lenses, also don’t be surprised if they recheck your PD’s. Progressive lenses are more difficult to check yet most inexperienced opticians have no clue where to start, it comes down to competence, education and care! Progressives do take an adjustment period but shouldnt cause some of the problems I’ve read in here. BTW independent shops can be a rip off also! Stick to the Opticians who dont ramble on with excuses why something doesnt work, ask them questions.
YOu birth too much are your too damn cheap, pay a thousand for glasses and get a high quality product you redneck
Wal-Mart optical is a SCAM!!!
They gave me contacts that were not correct and would’nt give me a prescription until i agred that they were right.
I’ve had two pair of glasses from Walmart. The first was a relatively expensive pair and they lasted yrs. The last pair I bought probably a year ago has been terrible, but I was once again going to try and wear contacts. So I decided to get a very cheap pair of glasses.
I think I paid like $70 bucks total. The lenses fall out about every 3 months, but I’ve never lost the crew and I just put the lense in, retighten it and off I go. I’ve had walmart fix them probablt 10 times.
I bought cheap and I got cheap, but I think if I’d paid more I’d have gotten a nice pair of glasses there.
I’ve always been treated great and from North Texas to Florida I’ve stopped in and had them fixed or adjusted, I’ve always been treated well.
Target Optical isn’t any better. I spent close to $300 and now have not only glasses, but contacts I can’t see out of, and they won’t make it right.
Cut the crap! I am an optician with over twenty years in the field and have several friends who work for Wal-Mart as licensed opticians and as doctors of optometry and the issues that face Wal-Mart about quality come down to profits pure and simple.
For years the labs whether Crawfordsville, Dallas, Columbus, or Fayetteville have had some consistent problems with quality in my experience specifically with lenses falling out of the frames. There are other, “you get what you pay for” issues that you could argue are quality related as well. For example, the anti-reflective coatings that are most often used are some of the worst I have ever seen and the polarized single vision lenses are without a doubt the poorest quality I have ever seen in terms of optics and lamination.
VM 3247 you said, “Bottom Line- There are many problems people will face, no matter where you go. It is how the problems are dealt with that makes the difference.”
But what I see is that the problems encountered are endemic to a system that is a slave to greed and a false sense of autonomy, a company that sees itself as the final authority of all things, ethics, morality, and even law. And it is in this arrogance that the people who place their TRUST in Wal-Mart are taken advantage of. You mentioned that you are ABO and NCLE certified so I know that you take what you do as a profession seriously and that you know that what you do is much more than “sell” a product. I also know that tens of millions of US citizens are protected by state and federal laws that regulate what you and I do. States from New York to Florida, fourteen in all I believe, have determined that the service we provide affects the health, safety, and welfare of the public to the extent that a person licensed by the state must at all time be present in order to do business, EVEN if a doctor is present and working. Yet Wal-Mart seems to be making a practice of violating the law by not having licensed opticians on staff in sufficient numbers to avoid subverting the law. In the area my friend works she knows of half a dozen stores that do not have the legally required coverage and this condition has been consistent for YEARS yet Wal-Mart does nothing. Their marketing for licensed opticians is a word of mouth secret society sort of thing and they claim they have such trouble finding what the law requires they have to do business. So they are illegally and artificially keeping you wages lower than the market forces they swear allegiance to would dictate if they did the right thing, the moral thing, the ethical thing, the legal thing.
Labmonkey wrote “Again blame the crappy jobs on management. Our QA people are great but when they show a job to management, they tell them to send it. If there is an argument management threatens them with all sorts of punishment even a decision day. A few others and I have partaken in trying to catch some of the bad jobs and purposely breaking them to force a total redo. It wrong but I would rather cost the lab some money than lose the customers.”
The pressure to do the wrong thing comes from the store level as well. I have another friend who is a doctor and she was telling me that a DISTRICT MANAGER was telling opticians to dispense improperly made eyewear to keep remakes down because they were affecting profits.
The problem Labmonkey highlights and the doctor witnessed support perfectly the contention that it is the greed of the management that blinds them from the right thing and make criminals out of the innocent kind of like Nazi Germany in the 30’s and 40’s. Wal-Mart might not discriminate based on race or ethnics or national origin but what about based on disposable income, need, trust and ignorance? Your boss Lee Scott made $23,767 AN HOUR last year! Thanks for all that you do.
Truth says
"Does anyone actually believe that any company would try to sell a poor product?"
I guess since you work for Wal-Mart you think that the answer to this question is "no" huh?
YES EVERY DAY !!!!!!
I work for walmart optical labs. Management doesn’t care about customers, they just care about money and hitting their numbers. I’ve never gotten lenses at walmart, but im sure its a scam. And Lee, you are one of the millions in our company that just care about the money you make, and not the poor products we sell. Management at Walmart are just a bunch of dick wads!
Just a quick question? Do you have to pay per lens, or is the price for 2 lens? Went last Thursday for appt. and have not gone back to get glasses, but when I checked the receipt, the price for lens appears twice.
Each lens is listed seperate. You should have two charges for lenses if you bought a pair. What did you buy and how much was it?
I went to Walmart years ago for my first pair of glasses. The screw loosened and they would get ‘wobbly in the frame’ on a regular basis. I got in the habit of checking them each day before putting them on and if needed tightening the screw. It was only the right lens, not the left! Other than that they were fine, and service was fine too.
I have since used several different companies. I used Optical Outlet for many years, (because of their 2 for 1 deal) till they talked me into getting non-reflective lenses once. For some odd reason the pair with non reflective lenses I couldn’t see clearly out of, the other pair was fine. The clerk said it was because the other pair had a tint on them. Does that make sense?
The next year I went to Sears optical. After waiting 8 weeks, yes 8 weeks! I finally got my glasses, I can see nothing when I wear them, it took so long to get them and they were so rude about it, that I decided to just set them aside and go some where else. The stress of trying to get them to fix them was more than I could handle.
So I then took my prescription from Sears to a private doctor. I got glasses pretty quickly and can see out of them OK, although I think the prescription was not as good as it could have been. They were more expensive, but have had no problems with scratches or the frames, or anything like that. Now after a year I need to replace them, the prescription just isn’t right and I am having headaches. I like the frames, and was wondering if any one knows if you can have new lenses put in your old frames, and if doing so would save any money. I really don’t have the money to pay a lot for my glasses, I am on a fixed income now and have little money for anything except basics. Of course, glasses are basics!
Also does anyone have any tricks for getting a good prescripton? I never quite know if number one is clearer than number 2, you know how that goes.
J, You sholud be able to use your exsisting frames. Most places will try to charge you a pattern charge for the service though, around twenty dollars. If the frame is a good one and in good condition it is worth keeping but be ready to defend your decesion as you are likely to hear all the reasons you should buy a new one. As far as any "tricks" for getting a good prescription goes, yes I have. Find a doctor that you feel comfortable with and who you believe listens to you. That may sound silly but there is a lot of truth to it. The doctor finds a subjective and objective prescription for every patient that they treat. There is an important distinction between the two. The doctor can determine your refractive error without any input from you but that does not mean they will correct based solely on that. You communication with the doctor is very important. Take the time to explain the symptoms or concerns you have. For example, Dr. Smith the last time I got a pair of glasses I could see better out of my left eye than my right, or as the day goes on my vision seems to get worse. Remembering no matter how odd you think you symptom is there is a reason for it or an explaination that will put you at ease maybe by helping you understand you visual limitations or helping the doctor refine their work a little based on a specific need you have is usally just a conversation away. And dont think you get the best vision by seeing the smallest possible line on the wall in your darkened doctors office translates into what will serve you best in the real world. The doctor you put your trust in spins those dials on hundreds of patients a year and takes alot more into consideration then a few questions about "which one is better…A or B" I know of some doctors who never even use the 20/20 line on the chart.
Thank You Lee.
I will definitely try the things you suggested.
Have gone to Wal-Mart vision center in my home town for years and always got a good pair of glasses
Sears Optical has really good glasses usually on sale complete for 99.00, that includes no line bifocals. I always have gotten them there. I see now they offer them at 50% off instead of the straight 99.00 but I think it still comes out to about 100.00- 110.00 depending on what frame you choose of course.
Everyone seems to have bad remarks about Wal-marts optics. Well wal-mart mass produces optics and thats what they are all about. Also keep in mind they are cheap. Not everyone can afford new optics every year so wal-mart helps a lot of families out that can’t afford glasses. They are also the largest eye glass manufacture in the WORLD!!! so of course you have a lot higher percentage of getting a defective pair of glasses. But in all out qualitiy you will not find a cheaper pair of glasses with the quality they put into them and amount of money. If you buy a $100 pair of glasses you get a $100 pair. You get what you pay for. Also keep in mind that all glasses no matter where you buy them all have to pass an ANSI standard. If you get a defective pair and you are unstatisfied call the Quality coach at the lab you got them made and I promise you they will try their hardest to help you or make your glasses right. The customer is #1 when it comes to walmart making eyewear.
Wow, I have an appointment tomorrow at 9:40 A.M. at my local Wal Mart in New England. After reviewing these comments, my decision to still go hangs in the balance. I figure they sound safe for contacts, so I’ll keep the appointment. However the glasses issue now weighs in heavily with me. I think I will rely on all of these concerns expressed here and be prepared to walk out of Wal Mart if things do not feel right. I only wear glasses from 6-10 P.M. at night following work, however, the eyes are far too vital to be compromised. Susan Marks, I did enjoy reading g your posting and keenly share your sense of despair over the power that "Big Box Retailers" appear to have within our society. Your analogy to Nazi Germany was an accurate one. I too agree, with you that our identity as a people and culture is being sacrificed to monopoly retail management. The landscape of America has changed and no longer reflects a true cross section of the people residing here. The owning ruling class of privilege, have a firm hold on the others who fall into various categories among them, the ever increasing disenfranchised sect. It is truly a scary situation where human needs are being placed on hold and shoved to a back burner.
Thanks for all of these postings folks. It is reassuring to know that whether everyone agrees or not, that there is still some passion for an issue left.
Dear Justin, Have you not been reading the posts here? Wal-Mart routinely attempts to passes off eyewear that DOES NOT meet ANSI standards. Management DIRECTS employees to dispense eyewear that DOES NOT meet ANSI standards. It does not get any clearer than that. I have been in the optical industry for over twenty years and I assure you that you can get better quality for the same or les money all day every day. Don’t make a mistake with your money or your vision out of laziness. Shop around make and informed purchase. Make an informed decision about who you trust you eye healthcare needs to. I promise you they DON’T try their hardest and the customer is not number one.
Once again…I think Sears outshines everyone for the price.
Hey “Truth” have you been reading any of this from your office in Bentonville? Lets hear some more of your company propaganda we need a good laugh.
Dear Lee Scott
Aren’t you the same Lee Scott that is a big person at walmart? I look at your picture every night when I go to work at the walmart optical lab, and your trashing the people who made you rich? I dont understand….
Is the picture in a well-lighted area? Can it be easily seen? Is it clean and dust-free? If not, access the WIRE and e-mail Susan Chambers in Crawfordsville and let her know. She is in charge of morale for Wal-Mart. She cares deeply for each and every one of us and has made it her mission to help us individually serve the company to the best of our ability. I need to be seen by my people. I don’t consider myself rich. I have worked hard all my life. I started out a regular Joe at Wal-Mart like a lot of others and grew in the company by my hard work and dedication. You can do the same thing, and I hope you do. Thank you for all that you do. Lee
whatever
I went to the Wal-mart in Manchester, NH and when I got my glasses, I was unable to see clearly out of them. The girl also told me I "had to get used to them". Well, that never happened because they put the lenses on the wrong side. My left eye got the right eye’s prescription and the right eye got the left’s.I guess it was going to take me a long time to "get used" to those glasses. What a rip-off…..
Wal-Mart has the best prices for contact lenses; unbeatable for Bausch & Lomb Soflens. They don’t have to produce them so you are safe. I only bought one pair of moderately priced eyeglasses there, and frequently suffered with the lenses falling out of the frames and/or screw coming loose and popping the frame apart. So, have bought from Lenscrafters ever since, with no problems.
The doctors at the Vision Centers are REAL. They too work very hard and very long hours just for the conveience of the customer. I am a Optical Manager and I takeing everything that everyone is saying to heart. At my location we work very hard to make sure every customer has a great experience, but mistakes do happen and if its our fault we are going to make it right for you. And I know that I’m not going to make every customer happy because thats just not possible but my team and I will give it our best shot. Many of the optical stores have the same brand lenses and the same supplier frames so be careful what you knock Wal-Mart just makes it affordable for everyone instead of those that just have private optical insurance.
Proud,
A couple of things that you said I find interesting. First you mention ownership of the people you work with. Funny, I thought that the constitution was amended to prevent private ownership of individuals by other individuals. Second a group of people with someone who “takes charge” is not a “team” but a group. Third, who suggested that the doctors were fake? And finally is “your” doctor caring for the visual needs of humanity for free? NO? I didn’t think so. So guess what he is not doing it for the convenience of “your” customers…sorry.
I am sorry that soime of you have had poor experiences at WALMART VISION CENTERS. I, however, have had great experience with them. I purchase my contact lenses and my glasses at my WALMART store in Tesksbury, MA and in Lunenburg, MA. My husband also purchased his glasses there. I have never had a problem. My dog used my glassesas a chew toy and WALMART replaced them with no problem. My husband’s glasses were sat on by a co-worker and were a discontinued model when we bought them. MY WALMART store replaced them with a similary priced pair. You have to also remember thast some of these optical centers only rent the Walmart space and are contractors as opposed to those stores who actually have and hire their own opticians.
Remember, you get what you pay for. If you are buying the cheap 39 or so glasses, they will not last as long as the ones that are a little more expensive. The designer glasses are still lower priced than many other places. One bad experience does not make these places bad. Before bad mouthing, think of all the people who have had good experiences. Misery loves company and many people just like to gripe because they cannot take responsibility for their own choices. I find it hard to believe that glasses just fall apart for no apparent reason. How long did you have them and did you swing by your store to have the screws tightened every so often. The screws do loosen over time because we are opening and closing the templates all the time.
Lisa unless you work for Wal-Mart, why would you care, let alone be sorry about the poor experiences other people are having at Wal-Mart? Your comment “One bad experience does not make all theses places bad.” ignores most of the posts on this page. The very reason this page exists is because someone had a bad experience not because the experience was so good they felt compelled to tell the world to visit Wal-Mart. Did you read any of the posts before you commented? And as for “bad mouthing”, I think you’ll find that the posts site specific examples of poor customer service and or flawed company policy these therefore reasoned responses are not trash talk.
I also am a VC manager with Wal-Mart Optical. The problem with this site is that it chooses to post only the bad comments listed by people. As someone who works with our patients 5 days a week, I know there are good as well as bad experiences. In our VC, we try hard to make sure EVERY problem is taken care of. I believe in the quality of our products, and buy mine and my families eyeglasses at Wal-Mart. Our DM has always stressed that even though we have that 60 day warrenty, we take care of our patient/customer no matter what. And guess what? WE DO! I would like to extend an apology to everyone who has had a bad experience with Wal-Mart Optical. Just remember that when you finally have that bad experience with Sear’s, LenCrafters or whoever, you will be bashing them next. Remember the old adage: You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Oh, and for those of you who think it is actually THE Lee Scott bashing his own company–Wake up and smell the coffee!!!
Tabee, your first point is as inaccurate as it is thoughtless. Your post, as well as the many others submitted by Wal-Mart apologists that are present on this page, show a self-inflicted ignorance that borders on delusional. Your post is here so the sites DOES NOT CHOOSE TO POST ONLY NEGITIVE!!! And congratulations your Wal-Mart indoctrination – it has gone according to plan. You have successfully ignored the factual issues presented on this page just like Wal-Mart wants you to and have gone off in an “everybody is picking on me” defense. So unless you care to be relevant and address SPACIFIC problems that are raised, save your Wal-Mart cheer for your friends and family…if they’re not sick of it already. And by the way Thanks for all that you do.
"Lee", I have not ignored the factual issues presented on this page. I have only pointed out that EVERY business has its ups and downs. As for the self inflicted ignorance, the only ignorance I see on this site is yours. Nothing in my former comments suggested that I have an "everybody is picking on me" defense. I, however, will not stoop to a level that has me attacking other people on a personal level. I have only to say, wherever you work in the company, it was a sad day when they hired you. I see you didn’t deny that you are in fact not the Lee Scott. By the way–Give me a W, give me an A, give me an L, give me a squiggly, give me an M, give me an A, give me an R, give me a T–what’s that spell–a company that is better to work for than some of the other hellholes I’ve been in!!! And by the way, Thanks for all that you do.
