There’s been a lot of fantastic work done on Bug 274784, “Make back and forward blazingly fast and side-effect free.” Well, at 3am thoughts were rolling through my mind, and I came up with a cool name for this new feature. Whiplash. I like it, a few other folks do. Let’s make it official! “Firefox 1.1: Faster, Smarter, and now with Whiplash!“

Well, the concensus was that “Firefox 1.0 Released, World Stops” was lame as a title for our Firefox 1.0 article […]
Yeah, that’s kind of cool. But the Opera fans will be all over us for implementing and selling with a feature Opera did first… 😉
Thirding whiplash. So glad to hear this bug is fixed! 🙂
it still has a little while before it becomes "fixed"…..it has caused some major problems……myself and others are seeing crashes seemingly out of no where since this has been implemented…….but it will be a great feature once all the bugs are worked out….
Please do yourself and the world a favor. Don’t ever go into marketing or PR.
From Wikipedia:
"Whiplash is the result of impulsive stretching of the spine, often the result of a rear-end collision between cars or trucks."
Not exactly oozing positivity is it? Market that as a feature and people think: If i use this feature I’ll suffer from persistent neck pain that may or may not lead to a disability?
Also, it’s kind of insensitive to the people that suffer from whiplash to start using it as a buzzword.
Wow. You are a complete and total tool. I KNOW what whiplash is. I REALLY doubt people will think Firefox will give them neck injuries. And I also doubt whiplash sufferers will be offended as whiplash isn’t a long term chronic condition. It’s a type of injury that heals with time and sometimes physical therapy. There are lots of words used for marketing purposes that have other connotations.
Oh come on.. Atleast respond to the issues at hand..
I thought you were better than this.
What the hell do I have to do to get this through to you? I am not going to have a debate on Political Correctness with you. It’s a fun little name for a new feature. GET A LIFE. NExt comment, and I’ll ban you’re entier netblock, sinc eyou’ve already ignored two deletions and evaded an IP ban.
"It’s a fun little name for a new feature."
Thanks. That’s all I wanted to hear. I was worried you would somehow try to push this through to make it an official name or something.
No reason to get all worked up. 🙂
I guess this guy Socially conscious marketer did’nt read the rules. So much for being Socially Conscious…
